Remote Access

The L.A. Foster Library now has a proxy server that gives students, faculty, and staff the ability to access several of our databases from off campus. Below is a set of instructions for accessing the remote server.

Log onto the internet via your Internet Service Provider.

Go to anywhere in the library's website and click on the Databases link (on the left side of the screen). Then click on the title of the database you wish to access.

Input your username and password *. You can obtain a username and password by contacting Hannah Ewart in the Library.

If clicking the database link doesn't work, type http://www.hlg. edu:8080 into your web browser; you DO have to type the "http://". Then enter your username and password on the page. If you have any problems, please contact Hannah Ewart in the library at 573-629-3131 or at hewart@hlg.edu.

*Note that not all databases require remote access usernames and passwords. EBSCOhost is an example of one that does. The ERIC database is an example of one that does not. There are also some databases that are accessible only from HLG's campus. These are marked on the Databases page with an asterisk.
