PACE Program - Academic and Career Services

The PACE program, sponsored by the Academic and Career Services Office, offers personal, academic, career, and engagement services, in one accessible location. The mission of the PACE program is to assist students with: adjusting to campus life, improving academic performance, locating on and off campus employment, and preparing for entrance into career or graduate school. Student Mentors

Student Mentors assist students with understanding and utilizing college and community resources. Mentors are also available to help new students connect with the "HLG College Experience."

Tutors

Tutors are available for individual, group, and supplemental learning sessions. Subjects vary according to need and tutor qualification.

What the PACE Program Offers:

Personal

  • Initial consultation and referral assistance for students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or psychological problems.
  • Student Alert System designed to link students to appropriate college personnel and address student needs, concerns, or desire for assistance.
  • Personal development resources, assessment tools, and booklets.

Academic

  • College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) for receiving credit for what the student already knows.
  • Advisement and planning for students desiring and/or needing to improve academic performance.
  • Tutorial services in subjects determined by student need and/or tutor availability.

Career

  • Online, individualized, career exploration and development program.
  • On and off campus job listings, internships, and scholarships.
  • Career planning, job search, study abroad, scholarship, and graduate school resources.

Engagement

  • Follow-up communication and contact of new students and commuters.
  • Assistance and/or mentoring for first-time freshmen, undeclared, or students with special needs.
  • Connection with the HLG College Experience: Assistance with co-curricular development, academic degree plan, college experience checklist, resume; and much, more!
