Brief Bio

Jerry Allen is one of a handful of Hannibal-LaGrange faculty who are natives of Hannibal, Missouri. After teaching at HLG part-time for several years in the 1970s, Allen made the transition from being a full-time business owner to full-time teaching.

Allen currently lives on a farm and enjoys working with his hands. Farming is a hobby and a passion, and his experiences on the farm are the reason most of his classroom examples have something to do with cows. While he often makes jokes about his overabundance of farming references, Allen knows that instilling key business principles is paramount for his students’ success after graduation. His chief aim in the classroom is to equip his students with the fundamental skills they need to succeed in any business environment. "Training managers is about having a good knowledge of management," he said. "With a good knowledge of management, you can manage anything."
