Brief Bio
Katherine Burt has taught at Hannibal-LaGrange University for over 25 years and enjoys the challenges and rewards of teaching university students. She explains, “I can’t imagine any career more fun than sharing great literature with perceptive, dynamic college students every day. It’s a privilege to see them derive new ideas from old masterpieces and develop an appreciation for various genres of literature.”
At HLGU, Burt serves on the Teacher Education Committee and the Student Learning Improvement Committee. She also supervises student teachers who are majoring in secondary education with an emphasis in English.
Burt’s hobbies are reading, playing piano, traveling, spending time with family, and attending HLGU musical, dramatic, and athletic events. She and her husband have three grown children and five grandchildren. The Burts are active members of Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal.
