Assistant Professor of Music

Brief Bio

Although Dave Corkern grew up in Louisiana just miles from music department chair Dr. John Booth, the two didn’t meet until many years later when Dr. Booth recruited Corkern to come teach at Hannibal-LaGrange University. When Corkern moved to Hannibal in 1999 his family was living in California. A career serving in various music ministry roles prepared him well to teach a mixture of conducting and instrumental courses at HLG. Conducting the Concert Band and the Jazz Band are among his favorite responsibilities on campus.

Corkern and his wife have two daughters, two granddaughters, and one grandson. He is also actively involved at Calvary Baptist Church where he serves as an elder and plays trumpet in the orchestra.
