Brief Bio
Louis Riggs considers teaching at Hannibal-LaGrange University to be “an opportunity to help young people think, write, and argue clearly and persuasively from a Christian perspective.” Teaching courses in composition, journalism, argumentation, and literature, he challenges students to communicate effectively in writing. He frequently draws on his 20 years of experience as a practicing attorney to teach students how to make a strong case for their viewpoints. Furthermore, Riggs acknowledges, “We’re here to help our students find God’s purpose for their lives. We are a community of faith.”
Beyond his classroom responsibilities, Riggs serves as adviser for the campus newspaper, Horizons, as well as the pre-law adviser. He also serves on the HLGU Strategic Planning Committee and was the founder of the Campus Community Connectors. He and his wife Anne have a daughter, Meredith, and a son, Thomas. They are active members of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, where he serves on the personnel committee.
