About the TTT
HLGU's Trojan Turkey Trek is a 5K run/walk combination road/cross country race that weaves through the Hannibal-LaGrange University campus. The race starts and finishes near the Blackwell soccer field and takes runners through campus, along a couple of city streets, and on some beautiful trails. The 5K run is competitive; the 5K walk is not. The Kids' Fun Run takes place around Blackwell field. Each participant in the Fun Run receives a ribbon.
Started in 2006, by HLGU alum Marisa Brown-Ellison '98, the Trojan Turkey Trek has become an annual event for the University. The first "TTT" 5K Run/Walk and ½ Mile Fun Run for Kids was a part of the school's fall homecoming but now is its own special campus event that is held on the first Saturday in November.
Each year HLGU students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends from across the country (and sometimes world) participate in this annual event. Awards are given in a variety of categories including: overall winners for both men and women, overall alumni (both men and women), overall masters (both men and women).
The Trojan Turkey Trek is a fundraising event that helps defray the costs of mission trips for HLGU students. HLGU offers its students opportunities each semester break (fall, Christmas, spring, and summer) to participate in missions or service projects locally, nationally, and internationally. The money raised from the Trojan Turkey Trek helps to offset student fundraising endeavors.
