Marked Past Focused Future

FocusWeve spent the last year celebrating our 150th anniversary at HLG. Yet recently, we marked a date on the calendar with a more solemn remembrance.

Each of us, who are a part of the HLG family, remember where we were when we heard about the fire on June 22, 1989, that devastated our Hannibal campus as wed known it for decades. In the 20 years since, HLG has been blessed as God has provided resources for replacement and new construction while also providing us the blessings of thousands of students who have graced our campus.

As we look back at this anniversary of our history, our focus isnt so much on where weve been, but instead where God is leading. In August, we will host our graduates from the 1980s at the HLG Patio for our 80s on the 8th celebration. Fletcher Hall, a 96-bed residence hall, will soon be complete allowing us to host an ever-expanding number of freshmen and resident students this fall. Our Building for the Future campaign continues to move forward toward the initial goal of constructing the new Roland Library. Our past points us toward a tremendous future at HLG, and we are honored to share it with you.

Look for the summer 2009 issue of Reflections in your mailbox early next month. Your next issue of Trojan Talk will be emailed in September.

June 22, 2009, marked the 20th anniversary of the devastating fire that wreaked havoc on the HLG Administration Building. Though twenty years have passed, to some it still seems as if it were only yesterday.
