HLG believes that part of becoming a well-rounded person is giving of your time to help other people. Whether you can commit to two hours on a Saturday morning or to an entire summer, there are opportunities that fit your schedule. Student coordinators plan mission opportunities in the local community, the Midwest region, the country, and abroad.

GateKeepers
HLG students in this program commit to spending at least two hours per week as GateKeepers for children who need an additional positive role model. Students help the children with homework and spend time developing healthy relationships with them. For more information, contact faculty sponsor Judy Lemons at (573) 629-3109.
Missions Office
The Missions Office helps HLG students serve others. Student leaders organize mission opportunities for each school break, including fall, Christmas, spring, and summer breaks. Recent trips have included a fall break trip to an inner-city church in St. Louis, Hannibal evangelism, and overseas trips to Switzerland, India, and Africa. Summer Camp Teams
Each summer, several groups of HLG students pack their bags and travel throughout Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa to serve at churches and camps. Camp team members use their talents and skills to do everything from preaching and leading music to lifeguarding and leading recreation. For more information, contact Tom Hufty at (573) 629-3195.
Awe Star Missions
Students can join Awe Star ministries of Tulsa, Oklahoma, to travel overseas during the summer. Awe Star holds training camps right on HLG's campus. In the past, groups have traveled to Switzerland, Hungary, Australia, and Senegal. A scholarship is available annually for students who have received Awe Star training and completed a 30-day mission experience through Awe Star.
