Hannibal-LaGrange University’s campus has been chosen to be the site of the 2016 Worldview Conference that will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016. The conference will be held in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center. Distinguished speakers will engage attendees through lectures, question and answer sessions, and panel discussions from 8 am to 5 pm, with a break for lunch.
Sponsors of this conference include Missouri Baptist Convention, The Pathway, and Christian Life Commission. The theme of this year’s conference is “The State of the American Family.”
The conference is designed to give Christians biblical perspectives on current events that will help them to transform their communities for the cause of Christ. This year”s conference will feature experts from across the nation – including two speakers featured at the internationally renowned 2015 World Congress of Families.
Janice Crouse served last year as the executive director for the World Congress of Families IX. Previously she was executive director and senior fellow for The Beverly LaHaye Institute, the think tank for Concerned Women for America. Crouse, who is a returning speaker at the Worldview Conference, is also a three-time “Woman of the Year” and the author of Children at Risk and Marriage Matters.
W. Bradford Wilcox, associate professor of society at the University of Virginia, was a featured speaker at the World Congress of Families. Wilcox is the director of the National Marriage Project and author of Soft Patriarchs, New Men: How Christianity Shapes Fathers and Husbands.
Other speakers will bring added insight about the issues facing families in 21st century America, issues including the Supreme Court”s recent redefinition of marriage, abortion and other life issues, and orphan care. Other keynote speakers include C. Ben Mitchell, Graves Professor of Moral Philosophy at Union University, a well known Southern Baptist ethicist who is co-author most recently of Christian Bioethics: A Guide for Pastors, Health Care Professionals, and Families; and John Mark Yeats, dean of Midwestern Baptist College on the campus of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Additionally, participants will hear from the Missouri Baptist Convention”s Family Ministry Specialist Joe Ulveling and the Missouri Baptist Children Home”s George Fulgham, both of whom will join the keynote speakers on panel discussions. There will be one Q&A panel in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Registration is now open and ends April 7. Cost to attend the event is $5 for students, $15 for individual adults, and $20 for couples. HLGU students are admitted at no cost, although they need to register online to attend. Lunch is available at an additional charge of $9.00.
