HLGU Celebrates Nursing Pinning

Hannibal-LaGrange University’s Craigmiles School of Nursing celebrated their annual Associate of Science in Nursing pinning ceremony on Friday, May 6, at 7 pm. Thirty-one ASN students and two BSN students crossed the stage to be congratulated by the nursing faculty and receive their pin.

“A nursing pin is traditionally presented to new graduate nurses as a symbolic welcome into the nursing profession,” said Anne Riggs, MSN, RN, director of the Craigmiles School of Nursing. “It also represents the school of nursing attended. Our pin has incorporated the school colors of scarlet and blue, the University motto, “Knowledge for Service”, the lamp representing Florence Nightingale and her contributions to nursing, and a book with the year 1981-the year nursing classes at HLGU began.”

Graduates were Hilary Gordy, Katelyn Gordy, Paige O’Bryan, and Katelyn Huber (BSN) of Bowling Green, MO; Kaylee Dunnagan of Brighton, IL; Kalley Campbell of Clarksville, MO; Penny Anderson of Curryville, MO; Ivory Brokes, Diana McReynolds, and Ashley Whitley of Hannibal, MO; Trey Biggs of Hebron, IN; Breanne Lotspeich (BSN) of Lake St. Louis, MO; Emma Schroeder of LaValle, WI; Alexis Sparks of Lewistown, MO; Lori Suddarth of Louisiana, MO; Kelly Johnson of Maywood, MO; Brittany Talton of Monroe City, MO; Hanna Welty of Mt.
