HLGU’s Third Annual Festival of Hymns Announced

by Rebecca Sneed

Hannibal-LaGrange University’s Concert Choir will be joining voices with the Mark Twain Chorale and area church choirs and singers to perform a selection of traditional hymns and hymn sing-a-longs. The Festival of Hymns will be held in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center at 3 pm on Sunday, October 9.

Traditional hymns will be presented by the festival choir with special guests including ventriloquist Michelle Todd and Friends, and HLGU students Steven Hodge and Kailea Griffen.

The HLGU Concert Choir is pleased to participate in an outlet of service to the community through the expression of great traditional hymns. Concert Choir Director Lori Scott believes, “ministry and mission outreach should extend to many in the audience and community.”

Admission to the event is three canned goods per person. All canned goods will be donated to local food pantries to support the community. The community is invited to come enjoy a time of fellowship while hearing a fine arrangement of choral pieces.

Pieces for the event include “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,” “This is My Father’s World,” “Amazing Grace,” and more.
