HLGU Craigmiles School of Nursing Ranked Top 10 in Missouri

Hannibal-LaGrange University’s Craigmiles School of Nursing is excited to be included in nurse.org’s Top 10 Best Nursing Schools in Missouri list.

The HLGU Nursing School receives this recognition based on a number of factors including reputation, NCLEX pass rate, tuition, acceptance rate, and accreditation.

“I’ve always known HLGU has one of the best nursing schools in the state, but to see it listed as one of the top 10 best lets everyone else know too!” stated Anne Riggs, director of the Craigmiles School of Nursing. “Ultimately though, it’s not about us being the best, but that we’re doing our best to keep preparing future nurses for our community and the state.”

The variety and flexibility of programs offered also lead to the award. HLGU’s unique 3+1 Associate + BSN lets students become an RN in three years while completing their BSN in four years. With an LPN certificate, Associate of Science in nursing degree, 3+1 Associate and Bachelor degree, and a BSN completion program, students attending Hannibal-LaGrange University have many opportunities in the field of nursing.

“The approach to nursing education at HLGU is different,” said Will Brantley, vice president for enrollment management and marketing. “We believe in caring for the patient as a whole, not just seeing their illness. We provide our students an education based on a biblical worldview that enables them to excellently care for their patients while being an advocate for them, and our classes are intentionally small to give more individual attention to students.”

Morgan Swearingin, a 2009 graduate, recently received the nurse of the year award in the critical care category for the entire state of Kansas and the Kansas City metro area. She says of her education at HLGU, “I am so thankful for all of the knowledge and wisdom and love I learned from HLGU!”

“If students are interested in a small, focused, private nursing education, Hannibal-LaGrange is worth looking at,” stated nurse.org.
