HLGU names two recipients of Illinois Teacher Education scholarship

Hannibal-LaGrange University has named two students as recipients of the Illinois Teacher Education scholarship. The two students who have been awarded this scholarship are Addie Ford and Rachel Drish.

This scholarship is available to two students from Adams, Brown, Cass, Greene, Hancock, McDonough, Morgan, Pike, Schuyler, or Scott counties in Illinois who are pursing a teaching degree at HLGU. These students will receive a minimum of $15,000 in scholarships for their first year and a minimum of $10,000 per year thereafter until graduation.

Addie Ford is from Winchester, Illinois. She attends Westfair Christian Academy. Addie plans to major in Early Childhood Education at HLGU. She has worked in her school’s daycare for the past few years and developed her passion of working with children. Her hope is that Christ’s love shines through her actions and attitudes while teaching.

Rachel Drish is from Quincy, Illinois. When Rachel comes to HLGU, she intends to major in Elementary Education. She is very active in the community, playing piano for weekend services and the student ministry at The Crossing church, and she volunteers at Birthright of Hannibal where she watches and cares for children. She wants to be a teacher so she can impact the young minds that will shape the future.
