Disc Golf

Disc Golf

Disc golf is played much like golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. The sport shares with golf the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, fewest throws). The sport can be played as a leisure activity with friends, more competitively with other competitors, or anything in between. It is a great activity to get outside and exercise in a very accessible sport. You can play with one disc or a backpack full of them. It can be as casual or competitive as you want it to be.

HLGU installed a 9 hole disc golf course on the front side of campus in 2021. Since that time, the course has been played by hundreds of students and employees of the school as well as local community residents and even those traveling through the area. The course provides a layout that is easy enough for the beginner but challenge for a more experienced player.

In the fall of 2023, disc golf has become a club sport on campus. Students will get a chance to gather together and play with other students. From casual to competitive, all are welcome to join in the fun of throwing their disc around the course.
