Pereira Picks Up AMC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Hannibal-LaGrange junior Thiago Pereira has been named the American Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week for men’s soccer.

Pereira, a 6-0 midfielder for the Trojans, helped his squad to a 2-0 week with commanding wins over Culver-Stockton College and Lindenwood University at Belleville.  The Belo Horizonte, Brazil native was instrumental in both victories, earning eight points on the week.  Against the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton, Thiago netted one goal and had two assists.  He followed that with a two-goal outing against Lindenwood-Belleville. 

The Trojans improved to 5-2 on the season and have their first AMC contest of 2011 on Saturday when they head to Parkville, Mo. to take on the Park Pirates.

HLGU is a Division I NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school and a member of the American Midwest Conference.
