HANNIBAL, Mo. – The Hannibal-LaGrange Women’s Basketball program has announce its 2011-12 schedule which will include non-conference visits from Culver-Stockton College, MacMurray College, Greenville College, and McKendree University.

After the addition of Ashley Wilson and Trenee Thornton, two NCAA Division I transfers, the 2011-12 season looks to be one of the most exciting seasons, of late, for the Lady Trojans.  HLGU has also brought in a trio of talented Australians.  Maddy Cunningham, Jodie Fyfe and Ashleigh Spencer have all represented their respected regions of Australia in the Under 20 Australian National Championships.

“I am very excited about the upcoming season,” commented Coach Caleb Harrison.  “We are going to play an up-tempo style of basketball and are looking forward to the support of the Hannibal community.”

The ladies will be tested early with road games against William Penn University and Union University on October 28 and November 1.  William Penn finished 23-10 last season and were receiving votes in the final NAIA rankings while Union University closed out the 2010-11 season ranked first in the NAIA after posting a 35-2 regular season record.

The Lady Trojans will also take on a trio of NCAA schools.  On November 11 the ladies will travel to Macomb, Ill. to face Western Illinois University (NCAA Division I) in an exhibition match.  HLGU will also face Quincy University (NCAA Division II) in Quincy, Ill. on December 7 for another exhibition game.  HLGU’s final NCAA test will be on December 17 as they travel to Springfield, Ill. to take on old conference foe University of Illinois at Springfield (NCAA Division II).

The Lady Trojans will open the conference season in Fulton, Mo. on January 12 against William Woods University which finished last season ranked 21st in the NAIA.  The ladies will face William Woods at home on February 4.

Columbia College will be another conference test for HLGU.  The Lady Cougars finished the 2010-11 regular season ranked 11th in the nation and first in the American Midwest Conference.  The Trojans and Cougars will clash in Columbia, Mo. on January 28 and in Hannibal, Mo. on February 23 for the Lady Trojans’ senior day.

A few more dates to mark are October 25, the season home opener against Culver-Stockton, January 14, the ladies’ conference home opener against Williams Baptist, and January 26 when HLGU plays host to conference rival Missouri Baptist.

HLGU is a Division I NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school and a member of the American Midwest Conference.
