Ladies Push Past Stephens

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lady Trojans finished the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Basketball Classic with its second win in two days. Hannibal-LaGrange came out on top 70-51 in day two’s match against Stephens College.
Ashley Wilson led all scorers with 19 points and added on 10 rebounds to pick up her second double-double of the season. Forward Ashleigh Spencer finished the day with 11 points and five rebounds while fellow forward Nicole Villalobos picked up eight points and five rebounds.
The ladies led the contest from start to finish as it played a very physical first half. Hannibal-LaGrange limited Stephens to shooting 29 percent from the field in the first half and outrebounded the Lady Stars 19-7. The Lady Trojans hit 50 percent of its shots to build a 35-20 halftime lead.
Stephens tried to mount a comeback in the second half but, after coming out sluggish, the Lady Trojans continued its hot shooting to earn the 19 point victory and move to 3-2 on the season.
Hannibal-LaGrange held Stephens to shooting just 33 percent from the field while the Lady Trojans hit 55 percent of its shots. The ladies also won the war on the glass with 36 rebounds compared to the Lady Star’s 19.
The Lady Trojans finished the classic 2-0 and outscored its competition 144-96. Hannibal-LaGrange will be off until next Friday, November 11 when it faces NCAA Division I opponent Western Illinois in an exhibition game. The contest is set to tipoff at 7:00 p.m. in Macomb, Ill.
