HLGU Announces $10,000 Regional Scholarship

Hannibal, MO - Hannibal-LaGrange University has announced a new $10,000 Regional High School Scholarship. This new scholarship is available to current high school and homeschool seniors. To be eligible the student must live within the geographic region of or attend the following schools, in Missouri: Bowling Green, Canton, Hannibal, Hannibal Christian Academy, Highland, Marion County, Mark Twain, Monroe City or Palmyra, in Illinois: Payson, Quincy, Quincy Notre Dame, Quincy Christian, or Western. Additional eligibility qualifications include: a minimum 3.0 CGPA and a minimum ACT score of 21. Scholarships awarded are limited to 50 per year and are renewable for four years based on an earned 2.5 CGPA. Residential students are eligible for a $10,000 scholarship annually while commuter students are eligible for a $6,500 annual scholarship. The HLGU Regional High School Scholarship may not be combined with any other institutional scholarship.
Students need to apply as soon as possible. The deadline to apply for the HLGU Regional High School Scholarship is May 1, 2012. When asked what the incentive to offer this new scholarship was, Dr. Ray Carty, Vice President for Enrollment Management at HLGU said, "The reason for the Regional Scholarship is to reach out to the area families and students and offer an incentive to stay local for their education."
