HLGU Names Higdon Director of Public Safety

Al Higdon, has been chosen to fill the position of Director of Public Safety at Hannibal-LaGrange University. Higdon’s responsibilities will include the security of all University facilities/buildings and maintain systematic approach to campus security. He will also hire, train, and supervise all public safety officers and work closely with the Office of Student Development.

Higdon graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Environmental Science and was immediately hired by the Hannibal Police Department. He started his career with the HPD as a patrolman and worked his way up through the ranks to Chief of Police. In 2000, Higdon retired from the Hannibal Police Department after 20 years of service.

Al lives in Hannibal with his wife, Brenda and enjoys spending time with his family and four grandchildren.

“I look forward to working with the faculty and staff of HLGU. I recognize the professional and positive organization HLGU is to Hannibal,” stated Higdon. Al will begin his duties at HLGU on April 3, 2012.
