HLGU Nursing Students to Receive Pins

Hannibal-LaGrange University's Division of Nursing and Allied Health will give nursing students their pins at the annual pinning ceremony on Friday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Roland Fine Arts Center's Parker Theatre.
Gwenda M. Pollard, BSN, RN-BC will be this year's keynote speaker. Ms. Pollard was born, raised, and educated in Hannibal.
In 1983, Ms. Pollard graduated from HLG's first nursing class with an associate degree in nursing and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990 at Hannibal-LaGrange as well. Her employment history includes serving as Aftercare Coordinator at Mark Twain Mental Health Center, working as a PRN staff nurse on the surgical care unit at Hannibal Regional Hospital for 10 years, and teaching/coordinating for the Practical Nursing Program at the Hannibal Career and Technical Center for 21 years.
Currently Ms. Pollard is an adjunct faculty member of Hannibal-LaGrange University. She and her husband, Bruce, have two adult children, Dustin Pollard and Amy Moore as well as five grandchildren.
Thirty-five second-year students will receive their official nursing pin and will go on to graduate Saturday, May 5, with their associate degree.
