Hannibal, MO- Hannibal-LaGrange University invites the public to its campus on Thursday, July 12, 2012 for a concert. The event is free and will feature the Illinois Baptist Summer Worship University Choir, All-State Choir, University Band, Drama group, and Interpretive Movement group. The concert will be held in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center on the campus of Hannibal-LaGrange University and start at 7:00 pm. The concert will last about an hour and fifteen minutes. “This is the first time for HLGU to host this event and we would love to have the community attend,” stated Dr. John Booth, HLGU Music Department Chair.
Illinois Baptist State Association's All-State Youth Choir program is in its thirty-fourth consecutive year. Youth in grades 9-12 are selected for the All-State choir based on a strong Christian lifestyle, church attendance, recommendation of their church's pastor or music director and successful completion of a rigorous musical audition. Adult sponsors who are church music leaders in the state accompany the group.
In recent years, IBSA’s All-State Youth Choir has presented concerts in Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, New England, the Middle Atlantic States, Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, New York, Texas, and throughout the Midwest. The 2012 mission tour will bring the group to Kentucky, North Carolina, and West Virginia. In addition to leading worship and concerts, the group will be singing at Ridgecrest during Worship Week, working in a children’s home and helping churches with evangelistic efforts and ministering to students.
Steve Hamrick, director of the IBSA’s Worship and Church Music Ministry says, “The Illinois Baptist State Association consists of about 1000 churches and missions organized into 34 associations called to carry out our mission to serve God and the people of Illinois.” IBSA serves churches from the Chicago inner city to the congregations of the downstate farmlands. The ministry of IBSA reaches out in the name of Jesus to more than 12 million state residents and to the ends of the earth.
