Hannibal-LaGrange University invites the public to the grand opening of its new Roland Library. This open house event, for Hannibal and the surrounding communities, will take place on Friday, August 24, from Noon to 6:00 pm.
"The community is invited to come out and see the completed library. Back in April, at the dedication, the shelves were empty and the classrooms and walls were bare," stated Julie Andresen, HLGU Roland Library Director. "This facility will not only benefit our students but also the people in Hannibal as well as the surrounding communities." In addition to being able to enjoy all the books, periodicals, and journals, the new "Fireside Café" coffee shop will also be open. This new addition to the HLGU campus will proudly serve Starbucks coffee along with a variety of fresh baked items.
The new 20,000 sq. ft. library is named in honor of Dr. E. Earl Roland. Dr. Roland is a 1941 graduate of Hannibal-LaGrange and a long-time supporter of the University. Amenities of the new handicapped-accessible library facility include a multimedia-equipped computer classroom, computer lab, private and group study rooms, audio and video editing stations, children's reading area, and added space for expanded print and audiovisual collections.
