It is with great excitement HLGU welcomes all Trojans back to our beautiful campus and provides a time for alumni to reunite with their fellow classmates during our 2012 Homecoming.

HLGU classes of 1962, 1972, 1982, 1992 and 2002 will be our honored guests at A Hollywood Homecoming, 2012! We hope HLGU alumni will begin making plans to attend October 5, 6, and 7, 2012.  This will be an event-filled weekend you won’t want to miss.

Homecoming is the time of year for Trojans to return to their roots, and we are looking forward to honoring the class of 1962. Their 50-year class reunion will leave each of us with a better sense of the tradition and pride that goes hand in hand with being alumni of this great University.

HLGU’s 9th Annual Golf Classic, a tradition for many HLGU alumni and friends, will be held on Friday, October 5. This competitive yet fun scramble will take place at Norwoods Golf Course in Hannibal with registration beginning at 9:00 am and the shotgun start at 10:00 am.

New to last year’s homecoming events was the addition of the 50-Year Club.  This club was established to honor alumni who attended Hannibal-LaGrange 50 or more years ago.  During the 50-Year Club Induction Ceremony on the Friday of homecoming, members of the class of 1962 will receive special medallions to wear all weekend.  A group photo will be taken and guests will be entertained by 1950s and 1960s classics.  This will be a great opportunity to gather and reminisce.

Campus and Roland Library tours will be given on Friday as well. Campus tours will begin at 2:00 pm and continue until 4:00 pm. The Roland Library tour will be a special event homecoming guests will be sure to attend. The library tour will be given by Julie Andresen, Library Director and will begin at 3:00 pm.

The Annual Alumni Art Show & President’s Reception will be held on Friday as well with the reception starting at 5:30 pm. The artwork of HLGU alum, Lindsay Skelton Vogt ’05 will be featured at this year’s alumni art show. This event is a wonderful opportunity for Homecoming guests to meet Dr. Anthony Allen, HLGU’s new president.

During the Friday night homecoming banquet, alumni and current students will “walk the red carpet” to a “Hollywood” inspired dinner. Following dinner, guests will move to the Parker Theatre, in the Roland Fine Arts Center, for the coronation of the 2012 Homecoming King and Queen. In addition, HLGU athletes and the 50 year reunion class will be recognized.  The Alumni Awards will also be presented. Entertainment will be Tim Gabrielson, comic magician.

New to this year’s homecoming events is the Scarlet & Blue Scramble. This 1.5 mile fun run/walk will have the participants winding their way through campus on Saturday morning at 7:00 am.  Immediately following the Scramble, alumni, guests, and friends are invited to come out and cheer on the HLGU Cross Country members on Saturday morning as well. The meet begins at 8:00 am.

Other events for Saturday include a play-and-sing-along, Current HLGU band and choir students invite alumni band and choir students to join them for a couple of music-filled hours!  Rehearsal will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the performance starting at 3:00 p.m.  To register for this event or for more information, please contact Dr. John Booth at (573) 629-3161 or via email at jbooth@hlg.edu.

All are invited to worship with us on Sunday during a special chapel service in Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center at 10:00 a.m.  This is a wonderful opportunity to end the great weekend with inspiration from the Word. A Homecoming Farewell Luncheon will immediately follow the chapel service.

There are many more exciting activities happening during homecoming.
