President Anthony W. Allen to be Inaugurated October 26

During a formal morning ceremony, Hannibal-LaGrange University President, Dr. Anthony W. Allen, will be officially inaugurated as the school’s 17th president. The public is invited to this special event which will take place on Friday, October 26 in the Mabee Sports Complex at 10:00 am.

Four additional community events commemorating the inaugural ceremony will also take place throughout the week.

The Inaugural Chapel will take place on Wednesday, October 24 at 10:00 am in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center. Speaker for this event will be Rev. Steve Dighton, Senior Pastor of Lenexa Baptist Church, Lenexa Kansas.

On Thursday, October 25, a video/theatrical production of the History of HLGU will be presented by the HLGU Media Communication and Theatre Departments. This special event will feature historic photos, video, and live student performances. The production will begin at 6:30 pm and will be held in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center.

The community is encouraged to attend both the inaugural ceremony and reception on Friday, October 26. The ceremony will be held in the Mabee Sports Complex at 10:00 am. The inaugural reception will be held on the blue court of the Mabee Sports Complex from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Refreshments will be served.

Friday’s concert will be a part of the “Redeemed Tour” featuring “Big Daddy Weave” and solo artist Aaron Shust. The concert will be held in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center and begin at 7:00 pm.  If not sold out, tickets can be purchased at the door. Big Daddy Weave’s musical journey began with a Dove Awards nomination as New Artist of the Year in 2002 and includes a 2010 Dove Award for the album Christ Has Come. They have been honored at ASCAP's Christian Music Awards, were chosen for the WOW Hits compilations in five of the last six years and are one of the 10 most played artists at Christian radio over the past decade.

Most recently, they hit the top of the Christian AC chart - the fourth time they've done so - with "Love Come To Life," a song about the desire to have the love that Christ put in our hearts be more than words that we say, but a love that comes to life in actions.
