Hannibal-LaGrange University is pleased to host a free discipleship event called "Truth Pursuit: Who Am I?" March 14-16 for HLGU students interested in deepening their walk with God and discovering more about who He is while defining a personal, authentic identity in Christ.

The main focus for each of the three days is a sincere faith, a solid walk, and a study on the simple truths of God's powerful word. Students will enjoy team competitions and in both small and large group sessions will hear compelling messages from two speakers with a deep love for college students.

Dr. Kevin Shrum will be addressing current issues for young college men providing guidance for how to apply a biblical worldview and live out truthful insights on a daily basis. Likewise, Dr. Ashley Smith plans to challenge the young college women addressing specific cultural issues by gripping biblical truth to face life's difficulties, specifically on modesty/purity, conservative dating, and critical social issues.

Dr. Kevin Shrum has been in the ministry for 30 years, the last fifteen of which have been at Inglewood Baptist Church in East Nashville, TN. He is a graduate of Missouri Baptist College and obtained his Masters and Doctorate degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Kevin and his wife Janet have three children, Sarah, Caleb, and Isaac and one son-in-law, Keith. Kevin has served as President of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and currently serves as a Trustee for Union University and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also the co-author of a newly released book, The Fear Killer and has written numerous opinion pieces and journal articles and is now working on his second book. In his spare time, Kevin has been involved in coaching football.

Ashley is an adjunct professor at the Criswell Bible College in Dallas and a contributing writer for the forthcoming Women's Evangelical Library Commentary by Broadman-Holman. She is a founding member of The Embracing Womanhood Project, Inc. and a plenary speaker. Her B.A in Speech Communication and Masters of Divinity in Women's studies uniquely prepare her to address the needs of women. She has also completed her D.Min. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Her ministry and speaking can be characterized by clear, theological teaching delivered in laughter and love. Ashley is the wife of Dr. Steven Smith, professor at Southwestern Seminary and the mother of Jewell and Shepherd. She has served as a pastor's wife, women's ministry director, and a counselor for crisis pregnancy centers, as well as taking part in several mission trips and international travels.

"I look forward to seeing what God is up to through the teaching of His Word at HLGU's Truth Pursuit 2013!" said Stacy Allen, event coordinator. "Success in life always begins with a correct view of God and an accurate understanding of God's view of us. I believe ‘Truth Pursuit; Who Am I?' at HLGU will prove to be a powerful three-day event that leaves our students looking forward to the next one."
