The HLGU Lady Trojan softball players hosted a camp for girls ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade in the Mabee Sports Complex on February 16th.
Forty-five eager, young softball players attended the camp where they were taught softball skills including base running, throwing, fielding, hitting, and pitching.
"We offer this softball camp annually and always have a good turnout," said Head Coach Dan Hurst. "It gives our players an opportunity to connect with young girls in the community who are interested in softball. It's always remarkable how the campers enjoy meeting and working with our players. The HLGU players did a wonderful job and feel good about serving the community in this way."
All instruction was done by the Lady Trojan's themselves under the direction of the HLGU coaches.
"I love softball and kids. It is always a blessing to get to share something you are passionate about with others," said Senior Pitcher Kachina Hudson. "I believe that this is especially true when it is something that could keep kids out of trouble and have a good influence in their lives."
A good and successful time was had by all attending. For more information about Lady Trojans Softball, contact Coach Dan Hurst at 573-629-3215 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or visit the athletics website at www.hlgtrojans.com.
