The public is invited to enjoy an evening of music on the campus of Hannibal-LaGrange University on Thursday, April 18, 2013. This special event will take place in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center and will begin at 7:00 pm. The evening will feature HLGU's Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and several soloists. This free event will be the final concert of the year for the Concert Choir; however, Chamber Choir, Praise Song, and The New Edition will present their final concert on April 27 at 7:00 pm in the Parker Theatre.
HLGU's Concert Choir features 40 students under the direction of L. Jane Griffen, HLGU Assistant Professor of Music and accompanied by Karen Meade. Chamber Choir is also under the direction of Jane Griffen and has 11 members. Singing a cappella music, Chamber Choir will have performed 29 times this academic year. The concert will feature folk music that everyone can enjoy. A few of the works that will be performed include: Oh Susanna, Shenandoah, God Bless America, and Never Gonna Walk this Journey Alone.
"I know the community will absolutely love this concert. The choir has an excellent reputation for having quality, family oriented performances. This is definitely an event that the entire family, from young children to grandparents, will enjoy," stated Griffen.
The concert is free and open to the public.
