The Hannibal-LaGrange University Art Department will be holding an art exhibit featuring local artist Michelle Huseman, September 6th through the 27th.
An opening reception for Huseman's exhibit will be held on Friday, September 6th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the lobby of the Roland Fine Arts Center on the HLGU campus.
Huseman graduated with a BS in Elementary Education from HLGU in 1987 and has been teaching in the Hannibal school district for the past 24 years. She was also one of the first to graduate from the MSE program at HLGU where she earned her MSE with a literacy emphasis in 2008.
"Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember," Huseman said.
She started taking pictures while in elementary school, mostly of friends and family. Then in high school, she started photographing ballgames at school and learned she could make some money by selling her prints to the players. After getting a job at a local newspaper covering news and sports events, Huseman learned to develop film and print pictures.
Huseman said "My photography has provided me with so many wonderful experiences from sharing in important life events, meeting and talking to diverse groups of people, and now has taken me to more of an expression on my art and creativity."
