2013 Trojan Turkey Trek 5K Run/Walk

The 8th Annual HLGU Trojan Turkey Trek will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Sponsored by the missions department at HLGU, the 5k Run/Walk begins at 8:30 am on the grounds of the Mabee Sports Complex. Following the race will be a 1/2-mile fun run for kids.

The course weaves through the HLGU campus, along a couple of city streets and through the beautiful nature trail, introducing the runners to some of Hannibal's Hills and ending near the HLGU soccer field. The kids' course is on campus and completely closed off.

Proceeds from the event will help offset student fundraising endeavors for HLGU mission trips. Hannibal-LaGrange University has been nationally recognized and awarded for the mission emphasis of the school. Students have opportunities each semester break (fall, Christmas, spring, and summer) to participate in missions or service projects locally, nationally, and internationally.

Sponsors of the event include General Mills, Big River Pest Control, Culligan, McDonald's, Pepsi, Fiddlestiks, Fresh Ideas, and Antioch Baptist Church. Awards are sponsored by the Hannibal Regional Medical Group. The top two runners in each age group will receive medals and the top overall runners will receive $25 cash. The fun run is a non-competitive race. All participants will receive a ribbon and a t-shirt.

To register for the event, visit www.hlg.edu and click on the Trojan Turkey Trek slide. The cost is $20 for adult racers, $15 for HLGU students, faculty, staff, and alumni, $8 for the Kid's Fun Run, or $50 for families. All pre-registrants are guaranteed a t-shirt.
