Hannibal-LaGrange University is currently accepting applications for the Practical Nursing Program. Applicants may enroll for the upcoming fall semester with classes starting on August 26, or get a head start on their education by beginning classes on May 5.
The role of a licensed practical nurse (LPN) is to provide care for the sick, injured, and disabled under the direction of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians. Most LPNs provide basic bedside care and take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration. Patients require care around the clock, so healthcare facilities need LPNs on duty 24 hours a day.
"Career opportunities for LPNs have been expanding for years and are predicted to continue to grow in the next 10 years. This is a great time to consider furthering one's education," stated Anne Riggs, HLGU Director of Nursing and Allied Health.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of LPNs will increase 25% from 2012 to 2022, and the current median wage for an LPN is approximately forty-thousand dollars per year.
For more information on the LPN Program, or to enroll, contact Megan Shadrick, Nursing Admissions Coordinator, at 573-629-3141, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit her office in the HLGU nursing facility at the Northport Plaza, on Highway 168.
