HLGU Nursing Students to Receive Pins

Hannibal-LaGrange University's Division of Nursing and Allied Health will give nursing students their pins at the annual pinning ceremony on Friday, May 2 at 7 pm in the Roland Fine Arts Center's Parker Theatre.
This year's speaker will be Shelly Allen '93, a certified women's health nurse practitioner at the Hannibal Clinic. Allen has been a registered nurse for 21 years, 17 of which have been as a nurse practitioner. She specializes in continuing and comprehensive healthcare for women across the lifespan. She has worked at women's health clinics, menopause clinics, family planning clinics, correctional facilities, and at a cancer center as assistant director of cancer screening services.
Allen holds degrees from Hannibal-LaGrange University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She had been a guest lecturer for 3M Pharmaceuticals, Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing, and Hannibal-LaGrange University. Her professional memberships include the Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, American College of OB/GYN, International Society for Clinical Densitometry, Missouri Nurses Association, and National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health.
Allen is married and has two children. She enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with her family and friends, experimenting in the kitchen.
This year, 40 second-year nursing students will receive their official nursing pin and will go on to graduate Saturday, May 3, with their associate degree.
