HLG VOLLEYBALL INTRODUCES NEW FACES

Hannibal, MO - Hannibal-LaGrange College Volleyball has brought in some new faces and fresh talent for the 2007-08 school year. Head Coach David Ganser has been hard at work preparing for what he hopes will be a successful year.

Cara McQuality is a 5'7 setter from Sherman, IL, where she attended Williamsville High School. Her awards and honors include: Sangamon Conference Honorable Mention and Team Captain her junior and senior years, Sangamon All-Tournament Team her junior year, and Pairie State All-Academic Team and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year her senior year. McQuality plans on majoring in elementary education at HLG.

 

 

Kathryn Schroll is a 5'4 defensive specialist from Chatham, IL, where she graduated third in a class of 288 from Glenwood High School in 2006. Her awards and honors include: National Merit Finalist, President of National Honor Society, Co-Captain of varsity volleyball team, Special Mention All-Conference, and Academic All-Conference her junior and senior years. She also received the Defensive Award and had the highest serve percentage her senior year. Schroll attended Illinois State University in 06-07 as a Presidential Scholar and was on the Dean's List. She will be majoring in secondary education with an emphasis in biology.

Kelsey Wellman is a 5'11 Middle Hitter from Barry, IL, where she attended Quincy Christian High School. She was the team M.V.P.

 
 

Sileiny Arauz is a 5'11 Outside Hitter from  Chiriqui David, Panama. She attended Hill Community College where she was Team Captain, Second Team All-Conference, and team leader in total kills and kills per game during the 2006 season. Arauz plans on majoring in advertising and marketing at HLG.


Shannalei Seau-Gibson is a 5'9 Setter/Right Side from San Marcos, CA, where she attended Missions Hills High School. Her honors and awards include: Grizzlies Volleyball Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award, MVP, Poetry Finalist, Presidents Education Award Program for Outstanding Academic Achievement, Certificate of Appreciation from County of San Diego Stop, Think and Choose Program, and The San Diego Union Tribune Achievement Certificate All-Academic Team. Gibson-Seau will be majoring in education at HLG.

 

Natalie Kelly is a 5'9 Defensive Specialist/Outside Hitter from Aurora, CO, where she attended Rangeview High School. Her honors and awards include: Three years on the varsity program, Most Aces award (16 Aces), Top Gun Serve-receive passing Award, 5 years Club Volleyball, and she was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Kelly will be majoring in business at HLG.

Jenna Nichols is a 5'9 Middle Hitter/Outside Hitter  from Troy, MO, where she attended Troy High School. Her honors and awards include: Most Blocks Per Game in 2004, Best Blocker in 2005, team leader in blocks in 2006, 2nd Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-District, and a member of the Gateway Athletic Conference Athletic Team. Nicholas plans on majoring in business education at HLG.

 

 

 

Meagan Mifflin is a 5'4 Defensive Specialist/Setter from Kearney, MO, where she attended Kearney High School. Her honors and awards include: Coaches Award, numerous serving awards, National Honor Society, K-Club, and she was in the top ten percent of her class.

Kaitlin Osmak attended Pacific Academy in Surrey British Columbia, Canada, and played for Synergy Volleyball Club. She received the Jeremy James Scholarship and Memorial Award. The recipient of this award is someone whose strong Christian commitment is displayed in service to others, active community participation and academic effort. Osmak was also valedictorian of the Pacific Academy graduating class of 2007. She received Best Defensive and Most Inspirational individual awards for Senior Girls Volleyball in grade 12, as well as All Star Team Honors at the BCSSAA Christian Schools tournament, Fraser Valley Championships (equivalent to Regionals), and at the BC Senior Girls Volleyball Provincial Championships.
