Faden is originally from Odessa, Ukraine. He moved to Hannibal with his wife after living in St. Louis for 25 years. Beginning with a love for Ukraine's expansive fields and the grandeur of the Black Sea, Ilya is enthralled with nature; his work focuses mainly on landscapes and plant life. He uses natural reflected light and film to create his images. Ilya's current series features flowers, both common and exotic, and was shot outdoors. His techniques produce dramatic and evocative images that pay homage to the rich colors and delicate textures of flowers. A previous series examined the interplay of water and stone. These images were made in the mountains and forests of New England, a favorite place for exploration and sailing. Ilya is enthusiastic about joining the artistic community of Hannibal.
This exhibit will run through October 31. For more information or to obtain hours for the Hagerman Art Gallery, contact Robin Stone at 573-221-3675, ext. 237.
