Hannibal, MO - HLG Soccer netted two victories with a men's 5-2 showcase and a women's 4-0 result. In the first game of the doubleheader, the guys' team controlled the pace of the game, but a hustling Harris-Stowe effort held off the hungry Trojans for 27 minutes. At that point, the dam finally burst with an Aaron Long goal, his third of the week. Goals were added by Pepe Nogues, Shaun Ohms, Josh Duello, another Long finish, and capped off by Sebastian Rincon. Long, Nogues, and Duello, the team's seniors, were honored before the game in Coach David Erskine's one-hundredth win.

In the women's game, the Lady Trojans attempted to win for the second time this week. The week of practices focused on scoring goals and having a winning attitude, both of which showed up on the field. Early on, the girls set the tone on a Kaela Croushorn goal from Alysa Askew. This early precedent continued throughout the first half as the Trojans added three goals (Caitlin Symons, Megan DeHues, and Christina Schremp). The second half featured many of the younger players and reserves, and showed an encouraging depth which gave the coaching staff more confidence in its bench.

After completing a 4-0 week, the HLG soccer teams will find themselves back in action next week as the women's team heads to Marshall, MO, for a bout against Missouri Valley, and both the men's and women's teams venture to McKendree University for Friday night matches of substantial conference importance.

HLG is a Division I NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school and a member of the American Midwest Conference.
