Hannibal, MO-On Tuesday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m., Hannibal-LaGrange College music student Patrick Argent will present his senior recital in Parker Theatre in the Roland Fine Arts Center. Argent will perform “Behold, I Tell You a Mystery” and “The Trumpet Shall Sound” from the Easter section of Handel's Messiah, and from the Psalm Settings of Craig Courtney “The Lord is My Light” and “Psalm 91.” Many of these were commissioned by the Center for Church Music at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. Also included in the program are: Philip Roth's 20th century setting of “Psalm 100” coupled with the “Gloria Patri”; “Pieta Signore” which is an Italian sacred selection from the bel canto tradition; Italian Secular pieces “Selve Amiche“ and “Vado ben spesso” with realizations by Luigi Dallapiccola; and German Art songs by Schubert, Schumann, Wolf, and Richard Strauss featuring “Die Forelle” and “Botschaft.”

Argent is the son of Robert and Teresa Argent of Salisbury, MO. He is a senior Church Music major graduating in May. While at HLG Argent has been involved in Vision, Concert Choir, Advanced Handbells, and Student Government Association (SGA), serving as president. He sponsored through SGA a prayer breakfast for the campus. Argent has also served as a residential advisor.

The recital will be open to the public at no charge with a reception to follow in the lobby of the Roland Fine Arts Center.
