Hannibal, MO - The Hannibal-LaGrange College Men’s Volleyball team began the 2010 season with a road trip to Chicago, IL, to face Saint Xavier University, Moody Bible Institute, and Sienna Heights University. The Trojan men proved their valor with three 3-0 sweeps to begin the 2010 quest unscathed.
The Trojans kicked off the year at Saint Xavier on Thursday, January 21 at 7:00. Setter Sean Carls opened the match with three service points and the Trojans never looked back cruising to a 30-19, 30-26, 30-24 win to start the season. Freshman Matheus Roham led the way with 21 kills on 34 swings. Breno Bianchetti’s 13 digs anchored the defense en route to the successful start.
On Friday, January 22, HLG competed in a tri-match against Moody Bible and Sienna Heights hosted at Moody’s Solheim Center. The athleticism for the Trojans proved too tough for the Moody Bible Archers as HLG cruised to 2-0 with a 30-6, 30-11, 30-11 win. Roham and Bianchetti each had 9 kills and Freshman Jake Wollenburg of Oswego, IL, added 8 digs in the effort.
Finally, the Trojans faced off against Siena Heights in a very spirited contest.
