Martin/Quigg Named Homecoming King and Queen

Hannibal, MO – Hannibal-LaGrange College held Homecoming 2010 “Heart and Soul: Our Students are the Heart, Our Alumni are the Soul of HLG ” during the first full weekend in October. According to Lauren Youse, director of alumni services and development, "I’m so pleased with the alumni turnout at Homecoming this year. Alumni of all ages came to campus to play in alumni games, attend banquets and brunches and reunite with their classmates.”
It was a beautiful morning on Friday, October 1, for the annual HLG Alumni Golf Tournament. The winning team, Michael Brookshire, Cody Smith, Cody Pointer, and Alex Graham shot a 59 (13 under par). “To play golf with three of my golf alumni was a great thing,” said Brookshire, who is the head golf coach for HLG. “They definitely carried me all day. The weather was perfect and it was a great day.”
Katie Quigg was crowned the 2010-2011 Homecoming Queen during the Homecoming Coronation on Friday evening, October 1, and Jared Martin was named Homecoming King.
Quigg is a secondary education/English major from Kansas City, MO, and Martin is a elementary education major from Springfield, IL.
Other queen candidates were seniors Shannalei Seau-Gibson from Oceanside, CA; Cara McQuality from Sherman, IL; and Lindsey Schindler from Hannibal. King candidates were seniors Jason Cline from Mineola, MO; Andrew El-Zein from St. Louis, MO; and Lucas Alves Kozlowski from Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Other Homecoming events included an alumni brunch, a president’s reception, alumni art exhibit, entertainment by comedian John Branyan, alumni athletic events, and men’s and women’s soccer. The men defeated a previously undefeated William Woods University team, and the women ended their game in a tie.
