Lebanon, IL - The American Midwest Conference announced junior Trojan Andre Townsend as its inaugural Indoor Male Track Athlete of the Week.  Townsend earned the honor after two record setting performances at the Saluki Open hosted by Southern Illinois University.

Townsend broke the school record in both the 60-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash.  Townsend finished the 60-meter hurdles in first with a time of 7.97 seconds, which currently places him with the second fastest time in the NAIA.  In the 400-meter dash, Townsend finished fifth in a time of 50.45 seconds.

Townsend’s time in the 60-meter hurdles qualified him for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on March 3.  His time in the 400-meters was just a little over a second away from the qualifying mark.
