Trojan Golf Finds Success over Spring Break

Hannibal, MO - The HLG Golf teams traveled to Tucson, AZ over spring break to participate in the Tucson Invitational held at the Hilton El Conquistador Country Club.
With only three golfers, the women did not post a team score but all three ladies played well. Alicia Andres had the best score for the Lady Trojans shooting a 95 on day one and a 92 for the final day for a final score of 187. Brittany Ernst finished the invite shooting a 199 (96, 103) while teammate Michaela McClendon was close behind at 202 (106, 96).
The men’s team finished the invite on top of the team standings, defeating second place Pima College by 17 strokes.
Leading the Trojans was Lucas Morande who shot a 74 on day one and a 76 on day two to finish with a score of 150 over both days to finish first overall. Close behind Morande was teammate Marco Torrente who shot a 153 (76, 77) to finish in second. Also helping the Trojans to its first place finish was Philippe Guidi (81, 75), Erik Potts (86, 77) and Matthew Brennan (81, 88).
“I was very happy with the results over spring break,” stated Coach Michael Brookshire. “We had great weather, played some great courses, and grew as a team. The women played well and will only get better as the semester goes on. The men played great, with all the players contributing to the team score. I think we just scratched the surface of how we can play and I am looking forward to the spring season. We have a very solid group.”
