Hannibal, MO - HLGU groundbreaking ceremony for the new library to be held on Friday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the construction site located to the right of the front entrance. Directional signs will be posted. The public is invited to attend.
Community leaders, HLGU trustees, administration, faculty, staff, and students will be on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony.
Amenities of the 20,000 sq. ft. handicapped-accessible library facility include multimedia-equipped computer classrooms, computer labs, private and group study rooms, audio and video editing stations, a coffee corner and fireplace lounge, children’s reading area, and added space for expanded print and audiovisual collections.
The library will be named Roland Library in honor of Dr. E. Earl Roland. Dr. Roland is a 1941 graduate of Hannibal-LaGrange and a long-time supporter of the University. The Roland Fine Arts Center, dedicated in May of 2003, is named after Roland as well.
The new library is expected to be ready for use by spring 2012.
