Hannibal, MO – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Cross Country and Track and Field program has recently announced the signing of Blake Clowers of Pittsfield, IL, John Betsworth of Independence, MO and Ashley Ketcherside of Hillsboro, MO.
Clowers graduated from Pittsfield High School in 2010 and will transfer in after spending a year at Lincoln College.
While attending Pittsfield High, Clowers was honored as an all-academic athlete and was a state qualifier in track and field.
“Blake is going to be a middle-distance runner for the Trojans next year,” stated Coach Jason Lewkowicz. “He is excited to become a part of the HLGU family and we are equally excited to have him join our team. He will focus on the 400m-800m events while also competing for the cross country team in the fall. I believe that Blake will come in and compete with our up-and-coming middle distance group next year.
Clowers is the son of Mark and Bobette Clowers and plans to major in nursing while at HLGU.
HLGU recruit John Betsworth has been named to the all-conference team twice for cross country and twice as a track and field athlete while attending Raytown High School.
“We are excited to add John to the men’s distance group for next year,” commented Coach Lewkowicz. “He is a promising young runner and I believe that he will continue to develop as he takes on the longer distances at the collegiate level. He is a hard worker with a positive attitude and I expect him to contribute for the team as a freshman next year.”
Betsworth is the son of Jenny Betsworth and will major in history education while attending HLGU. Betsworth will graduate from Raytown High School this May.
While attending Hillsboro High, Ashley Ketcherside has been named to the all-conference and all-district team every season. She is also a four-time state qualifier in cross country.
“Ashley is a great fit for HLGU and we are thrilled that she is going to be a part of our team next year,” said Coach Lewkowicz. “She is a four-time state qualifier in cross country and she will be an immediate contributor to our women’s distance program. After cross country season, Ashley will focus on the 5K and 10K events in track. She has a great attitude and desire to continue her development as a distance runner and it will be exciting to see her add her contribution to what is already a solid women’s team.”
Ketcherside is the daughter of John and Darla Ketcherside. She plans to be an education major while attending HLGU. Ketcherside will graduate from Hillsboro High School in May.
