Hannibal, MO - The Hannibal-LaGrange Track and Field team has recently announced the signing of pole vaulter Jennifer Sturgeon of House Springs, MO. Sturgeon will graduate this May from Northwest High School.
While attending Northwest High, Sturgeon has been crowned as the conference champion (2009) as well as the district champion (2009, 2010) as a pole vaulter. She has also been named as an all-state athlete in 2009 after finishing seventh at state. Sturgeon was named to the all-state team again in 2010 after taking fifth at the state track meet.
“Jennifer will look to add her name to a list of talented pole vaulters that have competed for HLGU,” stated Coach Jason Lewkowicz. “She has had good success at the high school level and has the potential to take her vaulting to the next level under the guidance of Coach Jason Scott. She is another legacy athlete, as her sister Danielle was also a pole vaulter for us and Jennifer will have the chance to leave her own imprint on our program.”
Sturgeon is the daughter of Gordon and Tammie Sturgeon. She plans to major in elementary education while at HLGU.
