Nursing Students to Receive Pins

Hannibal, MO – The Evelyn Scarborough Linebury Nursing Program of Hannibal-LaGrange University will give nursing students their pins at the annual pinning ceremony on Friday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Roland Fine Arts Center’s Parker Theatre.
Dr. Richard P. Valuck, Jr. will be this year’s keynote speaker. Dr. Valuck was raised in Kirksville, Missouri. Under the influence of his father, an osteopathic physician, he became interested in a career in medicine during high school. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1981 with a BA degree in chemistry and from the UMC School of Medicine with the MD degree in 1985. His post-graduate medical training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology was at the University of Cincinnati 1985-91. Dr. Valuck is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and has been practicing in Hannibal since 1991. He is currently a member of Hannibal Regional Medical Group. He and his wife, Jenny, have two daughters, Kate and Grace.
Forty-five first-year students will receive a decorative pin for their accomplishments of being promoted to their second year, and twenty-two second-year students will receive their official nursing pin and will go on to graduate Saturday, May 7, with their associate degree.
