Hannibal, MO – On Tuesday, April 26, HLGU Athletics hosted an indoor sports event for the Mississippi Valley State School in the Mabee Sports Complex.  Approximately 25 students from MVSS participated in several activities involving balls, scooters, mats to play on, and many other activities. HLGU athletes representing all 15 varsity sports participated, totaling approximately 70 student-athletes.

“This has become an annual event that we plan to continue,” said Jason Nichols, HLGU Athletic Director.  “It represents well our NAIA Champions of Character initiative of instilling ‘servant leadership’ in our athletes, not to mention our motto as a university of ‘knowledge for service.’”

Jason Lewkowicz, head track & field/cross country coach, organized the event. “We really enjoyed having the students from Mississippi Valley come and hang out with us,” said Lewkowicz. “The HLGU student-athletes did a great job of interacting with the students from MVSS and we were all blessed by the spirit and joy that the kids have.”
