Local telephone service is provided in each room or apartment. Voice mail is also provided for each extension as a part of the telephone service. Students must bring their own telephone to have access to the voice mail. If long distant access is needed, students will need to purchase long distance calling cards.
If you would like to speak to your student, dial your student’s extensions or wait for the directory. An automated-attendant will answer the phone system. If you know the extension number, you may dial it when the auto-attendant answers. If not, one of the menu options will allow you to dial the first three letters of your student’s last name to obtain the number. If you are unable to reach the student, the system will assist you in leaving a voice mail message. It is important to remember that the extension number may be shared with a roommate.
Students love to receive mail. The mailroom area is filled with exclamations of delight or groans of disappointment. Tuck in cartoons, pictures, and/or sports scores; they enjoy it all.

College-related information can be sent by facsimile to the Library (573-248-0294) or Institutional Advancement Office (573-221-6594). Always let your student know that you are sending information and that it is waiting at the designated area.
The use of email is often the communication connection of choice for students. Even the most mundane reports of the comings and goings at home provide comfort and reassurance. It is wise to keep your student informed of your whereabouts and how you may be reached, and to ask the same of him or her.
Internet service is provided through the Computer Services Office and is the only Internet service available for resident students. Computer labs with Internet service are available in the Partee Center and library. Wireless is available at select locations throughout campus.
