Alpha Chi is a national honor society promoting academic excellence and exemplary character. The Missouri Kappa Chapter at HLGU is open to students in all disciplines who rank in the top 10% of the junior and senior classes and who meet certain other requirements.
Alpha Tau Beta
Alpha Tau Beta is a service-oriented sisterhood focusing on leadership, responsibility, spiritual growth, outreach, passion, purity, and accountability. ATB members must be full-time HLGU students with a minimum GPA and in good standing with the University.
Open to all HLGU students interested in visual art. Its purpose is to help members gain greater insight about various art forms, to sponsor art-related service projects on campus and in the community, to encourage the enlistment of students pursuing careers in art, and to support the development of the HLGU Art Department.
Centered In Christ Worship Club
The purpose or mission of the Centered In Christ Worship Club shall be: to create and grow effective worshippers or worship leaders, create a culture of ‘we’ in the family of Christ, represent Christ through servant leadership inside and outside worship services, encourage others to join in worship, define worship in a biblical sense for understanding what worship is before leading others in worship, and to provide experience for future worship leaders.
Christian Ministry Vocations Fellowship (CMVF)
CMVF is an organization for students preparing for Christian ministry vocations. They are required to attend monthly meetings and to participate in various ministry settings.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
An interdenominational organization open to all students who share an interest in athletics, FCA is committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
History Underground is an organization designed to increase students’ understanding and appreciation of history through films and other avenues. It provides students with an opportunity to discuss and refine their interest in history in a Christ-centered fellowship.
Lambda Alpha Epsilon (LAE)
LAE is an organization whose purpose is to foster and promote professionalism, better understanding, and communication between agencies of criminal justice and institutions of higher education and to provide a unified voice for students of criminal justice in all matters of professional concern to them.
National Association for Music Educators (NAfME)
National Association for Music Education (NAfME), among the world’s largest arts education organizations, is the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. NAfME advocates at the local, state, and national levels; provides resources for teachers, parents, and administrators; hosts professional development events; and offers a variety of opportunities for students and teachers. The Association orchestrates success for millions of students nationwide and has supported music educators at all teaching levels for more than a century.
Naturea Investigato Circulus (NIC)
NIC is an educational science organization, NIC is open to all students who are interested in biology or in any area of science. New advances in the scientific community are examined within a biblical worldview. See faculty sponsor for membership requirements.
Phi Beta Delta
PBD is a service organization for men. Its purpose is to set an example for other Christian men in doing good works for others, to strengthen and build ties of support and friendship among its members, and to obtain the aforementioned goals by performing duties and tasks for the community and the college.
Phi Beta Lambda (Future Business Leaders)
FBL is a national organization for all HLGU students who are enrolled in business, office, or business teacher education programs. Promoting a sense of civic and personal responsibility, this organization provides opportunities for HLGU students to develop competency in business and office occupations and in business teacher education.
Pi Gamma Mu
The international honor society, Pi Gamma Mu, is for the social sciences. The Missouri Iota chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, chartered in 2006, accepts juniors and seniors in the top third of their class with a B or higher average in the social sciences, defined as economics, geography, history, human services, political science, psychology and sociology.
RFAC Jazz Society
Science and Math Club
The purpose of the Science and Math Club is to inform interested students of the opportunities for medical shadowing and volunteering that are available to them in their community, to encourage mathematical and scientific activities outside of the classroom, and to strengthen ties between the community and members of the club, as well as the HLGU campus, through volunteering opportunities.
Sensus Plenior, comprised of members of HLGU’s honors program, is designed to provide academically-gifted and highly-motivated students with a deeper and richer college experience.
Students Against Sexual Assault (SASA)
SASA is a student-lead organization set on promoting awareness of the existence of sexual assault, domestic abuse, and human trafficking. Events will focus on promoting awareness, prevention, and support for victims.
Student-Missouri State Teachers Association (SMSTA)
Student-Missouri State Teachers Association is for all education majors and other students enrolled in education classes at HLGU. The purpose of the organization is to promote professional ideals and provide opportunities for personal growth.
Words in Motion
Words in Motion is an organization designed to educate students interested in American Sign Language, Deaf culture, and Deaf awareness. It will provide opportunities to interact with others who share an interest in ASL and learn how to communicate with individuals who are Deaf.
