Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU) is proud to announce that Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jason Durst has achieved a major career milestone, earning his 200th career win while also being named the American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year. The honor comes during a standout season in which the Trojans secured their highest tournament seed in program history and posted one of their strongest conference performances in decades.
Durst, now in his twenty-first season leading the Trojans, guided the program to twelve conference victories, the most since the team’s fifteen-win conference run in 2018–19. This year marks just the third time since the 1998–99 season that HLGU has recorded ten or more conference wins. Under his leadership, the Trojans delivered a season defined by consistency, growth, and a renewed competitive edge, which propelled Durst to earn his first Coach of the Year award.
HLGU Director of Athletics Clay Biggs praised Durst not only for his on-court success but also for his decades-long impact on student-athletes, stating, “Coach Durst exemplifies what it means to coach at Hannibal-LaGrange. For more than 20 years, he has invested in the lives of young men on and off the court while modeling the Christ-centered values that define HLGU athletics. I couldn’t be happier to see him recognized with his 200th career win and the American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year honor, recognition that is truly well deserved.”
Durst expressed gratitude for both the recognition and the people who have contributed to the program’s success throughout his coaching tenure and said, “Being recognized by my peers is a great honor, and I am thankful for the efforts of this year’s team that has led us to a great season.”
He also reflected on the meaning behind the 200-win milestone and said, “I am thankful for the opportunity to coach and lead the men’s basketball program here at HLGU. The milestone of 200 career wins is a result of the hard work and commitment of the many players and coaches that I have been blessed to work with over the past 21 years.”
Hannibal-LaGrange University celebrates Coach Durst’s achievements and congratulates the Men’s Basketball team for their impressive season and multiple AMC honors.
