Campus Sound Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:
This person is responsible to the Campus Sound department to assist with A/V equipment as needed and will work approx. 20 hours a week.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Operate Audio/Visual equipment including live sound equipment, projectors, computers, cameras and more.
  2. Work with faculty, staff and outside rentals to meet their event’s needs.
  3. Move, store, and organize A/V equipment.
  4. Depending on skills may edit audio and video presentations.
  5. Depending on skills may be involved in computer networking and live streaming infrastructure building/maintenance.

DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS:
The student assistant will work with faculty, staff and students and outside rental groups. He/She will report to Campus Sound Coordinator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate a wide variety of A/V equipment.
  • Must be able to transport heavy equipment around campus and set up events.
  • Must be able to work under stress and adapt to changes.
  • Problem solving skills is a must.

A/V experience preferred.

Fresh Ideas – Barista

The Barista performs a variety of duties relating to serving food, preparing and serving coffee/espresso drinks, stocking counters and maintaining sanitation standards. Customer service is a major responsibility of this position.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintains serving line, ensuring freshness, food appearance and proper amount of food on serving line
· Serves as an advocate of selling techniques to the customer by establishing good communication and assisting in the
buying decision-making process.
· Ensures all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards. Serves food neatly and attractively per
standard.
· Sets up station prior to meal serving time and maintains safety standards, neatness and sanitation of work areas
· Displays foods under the appropriate hot or cold conditions per standards
· Prepares espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes.
· Enters orders accurately into POS device; accepts cash and charge payments.
· Replenishes condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area.
· Maintains appropriate portion control and merchandising standards when preparing and/or serving food items
· Ensures the proper use of utensils and gloves
· Returns un-served food to the kitchen for the proper storage or discard

Fresh Ideas – Cashier

This position is very important to the operation, as the Cashier is often the first Fresh Ideas employee a diner encounters at a meal in the dining hall. The Cashier performs the monetary transactions for a meal and also performs a variety of other duties such as stocking counters, and maintaining sanitation standards of the server area and dining hall. Customer service is a major responsibility of this position.

Fresh Ideas – Dishwasher

The Dishwasher/Utility employee washes and properly stores all dishes, trays, utensils, cups and small equipment for the assigned location. This employee maintains the dish room and dish machine in a sanitary and efficient manner. This employee holds full responsibility to see that the unit’s dishes, trays, utensils, cups and small equipment are clean and sanitized according to the highest standards, and put away properly. The Dishwasher/Utility employee is responsible for assisting others in the loading or unloading of supplies and inventory, general cleaning (e.g., sweeping, mopping, sanitizing) and other general duties to see that the unit runs efficiently and effectively.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Performs opening duties, which include the following: set up dish machine; prepare bus tubs for soaking utensils and silverware; lay out floor mats; immediately wash any pans and/or utensils requested by cooks; washes any dishes, pans or utensils in the dish room upon arrival for shift
· During serving hours: sprays bowls and plates; fills glass racks; cleans dishes and silverware; scrubs pots and pans; return pans and dishes to their proper location
· Periodically bleaches coffee cups, as requested by management
· Sweeps and mops service areas and dining room
· Vacuums floor mats
· Performs closing duties, which includes the following: cleaning and putting away all dishes, pots and pans, silverware and utensils; rolls up rubber mats and runs through dish machine before placing on cart; takes apart and sprays dish machine; rinse screens; sprays and wipes counters, carts and belts; sprays under machine and counters with hose; scrubs the back sink; cleans track and trap under belt; squeegees dish room floor
· Regularly performs sanitation duties such as: cleaning walls, inside and out of machines, counters, belt, carts and
floor; upholds general sanitation when washing utensils and chinaware
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists in the loading or unloading of inventory, prepared food items for catering, and any other utilitarian responsibilities related to the unit
· Breaks down boxes; maintains adequate levels of cleaning chemicals for daily use; removes used grease to proper location; empties all trash cans; sweeps and mops floors
· Periodically removes lime build up on the inside of the dish machine and other liquid receptacles
· Other duties, as assigned

Library Student Worker (Work Study Only)

REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be a student at Hannibal LaGrange University.  Limited to those on College Work-study program.  Must have basic computer knowledge and internet searching capabilities.  Must be able to work several weekend shifts per semester.  May be required to work until midnight.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The library student worker performs various duties including processing and shelving library materials, as well as working service desks and helping patrons as needed.

Please note:  Library Student workers are required to work during finals week.

Mabee Sports Complex Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Monitor for people coming into the Mabee Sports Complex

Mabee Sports Complex Summer Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:
This person is responsible to the Athletic department to assist with general duties as needed and will work approx. Up to 20 hours a week.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Picking up mail from the admin building daily.
  2. Helping with weight room cleaning, spraying, laundry.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This person is responsible to the Division to Nursing to assist Faculty, Staff and Students as needed. The Student Office Secretary will work 6-8 hours a week and must be work study eligible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greet visitors and students
  2. Answer and transfer phone calls
  3. Pick up mail from Administration building
  4. Assist with grading
  5. File exams, quizzes as necessary
  6. Re-shelve books in the Library Learning/Resource area. At the beginning of the fall semester, review current books and remove those that are outdated more than five years.  Place color-coded sticker on spine of book to identify publication year.
  7. Copy, collate, run errands, and otherwise for the department.
  8. Clean lab as needed.
  9. As time allows, inquire of the instructors what might be done to assist them.
  10. Contact the Nursing Admissions Coordinator if schedule change is needed.

This person reports to Mailroom Supervisor

Position Summary:

Process all incoming and outgoing University Mail. Deliver all administration office mail. Assist customers at counter. Assist with tracking and delivery of mail and packages.

Process incoming mail, including sorting and delivery

Student Public Safety Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Public Safety Officer is responsible to the Director of Public Safety. The position is Part-Time and does not offer benefits, as specified in the handbook.  The Public Safety officer is responsible for the safety of all persons on campus and upholding university policies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lock and unlock buildings on campus.
  • Patrol campus, on foot and vehicles, and responds to calls for service.
