SUMMARY:Trojan Trek - Canceled
DESCRIPTION:Sorry to inform you\, the Trojan Trek will be canceled for October 27th 2018. We will resume the race on Homecoming 2019. Again sorry for the inconvenience.\nHLGU’s annual Trojan Trek will be held on Saturday\, October 27. Sponsored by HLGU’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams\, the 5k Run/Walk begins at 9 am at the Roland Fine Arts Center. \nThe Trojan Trek course will differ from past years. This year\, the trek will be a grass course that weaves through HLGU’s picturesque front lawn. \nPlaques will be given to the overall male and female\, overall male and female HLGU alumni\, and overall male and female in the masters division\, aged 40+. Additionally\, the top two runners in each age group will receive medals. \nProceeds from the event will help offset student expenses for the cross country and track and field teams. \nThe HLGU Cross Country and Track & Field teams are comprised of 41 athletes. During the 2017-18 school year\, the teams brought home 34 all-conference performances. In 2017\, for cross country\, the Trojans produced two national qualifiers\, Bailey Wagner and Lauren Sisco\, and had five ladies under 21 minutes for the first time in the team’s 15 year history. \nDuring indoor track season the men’s track team placed third in conference\, making the team all-conference. In the 2018 outdoor track season the men’s team placed second in conference\, making the team all-conference. The team also set four new school records in the 4×100\, 4×400\, shot put\, and hammer throw. The Lady Trojans also broke the school record in the 4×100. \nThis athletic program produces more than champions though. The combined GPA for cross country athletes is 3.28 and for track and field is 3.37. \nThe cost to register is $25\, $15 for HLGU alumni\, students\, faculty\, and staff\, or $75 for families of five. All those registered before October 12\, are guaranteed a t-shirt. On and after October 12\, the registration fee increases to $30. \nFor more information regarding the Trojan Trek\, email trojantrek@hlg.edu.

SUMMARY:Spiritual Emphasis Days
DESCRIPTION:Hannibal-LaGrange University’s annual campus renewal\, Spiritual Emphasis Days\, will be held September 4-5\, in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center at 10 am each day. Captain Jose Rondon\, chaplain at Fort Leonard Wood\, will be the featured speaker. These events are free and open to the public. \n“We are thrilled to have Captain Rondon come to campus for our Spiritual Emphasis Days\,” says HLGU President Dr. Anthony Allen. “I have known Jose for almost 30 years and am proud of the way God is using him to reach many young men and women for Christ. He also brings an international perspective and he’ll relate well with our students\, faculty\, and staff.” \nCapt. Rondon has served at Fort Leonard Wood since early 2018. Originally from Venezuela\, he came to faith in Christ in the 1990s through the witness of an International Mission Board missionary. Later\, he immigrated to South Carolina\, where he attended North Greenville University and then worked on master’s and doctoral degrees at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He became a United States Citizen in 2010 and later joined the military as a U.S. Army Chaplain. \nBeginning March 11\, 2018\, Rondon and his fellow chaplains witnessed what some have called a “spiritual awakening” among soldiers and trainees on the base. Last March\, Rondon reported more than 200 professions of faith. That number rose to 4\,750 professions by December 2018 – according to the last report received by The Pathway. \nRondon called Southern Baptists to pray for this movement of God to continue on the Army base. “God’s wonders\,” he said in a Facebook post\, “will continue to be seen through the prayers of His people.”
